“Tentative decisions; demos & live” muestra los primeros pasos de Talking Heads y la rápida evolución de la formación original, el trío formado por David Byrne, Chris Frantz
y Tina Weymouth.

El disco se publica el 6 de marzo en un 3CD de 45 canciones que contiene maquetas y temas en directo grabados entre 1974 y 1977.

Chris Frantz y David Byrne se conocieron en la escuela de diseño de Rhode Island y formaron un grupo llamado The Artistics. En la primavera de 1974 grabaron una maqueta en el apartamento de Frantz con canciones que posteriormente se convertirían en clásicos de Talking Heads como “Warning Sign” o “Psycho Killer”. Esta colección de rarezas contiene ese material descubierto recientemente así como otras maquetas y canciones en directo grabadas por el trío original, entre ellas quince demos inéditas grabadas para CBS en 1975 y doce canciones extraídas de diferentes conciertos en locales de Nueva York (entre ellos el mítico Max´s Kansas City).

En el libreto del disco Frantz recuerda que la aspiración de The Artistics era tocar versiones de The Kinks o Al Green hasta que empezaron a componer canciones propias. “Un día David llamó a la puerta del estudio de pintura en el que vivíamos Tina y yo y nos tocó el primer párrafo y estribillo de “Pyscho Killer” rememora Frantz. Byrne le pidió a Weymouth, que hablaba francés, que escribiera una letra para el puente mientras Frantz añadía más párrafos, y ahí empezó todo. “Tentative decisions; demos & live” continúa una serie de grabaciones de archivo que reivindican el legado del grupo neoyorquino y celebran su 50 aniversario.
